TIPS FOR CUSTOMERS DOING THEIR OWN PACKING BOXES AND PACKING MATERIALS MAY BE PURCHASED FROM US. You can either pick them up at our warehouse in Greensboro/Statesville or have them delivered for FREE with a minimum purchase of $30. Boxes are also available for purchase at Ray Self Storage offices in Burlington. ITEMS THAT NEED TO BE BOXED UP TO BE MOVED: Allow one 8-hour day per room if packing yourself!
PACKING DRESSER/CHEST OF DRAWERS: Clothes and linens CAN normally remain in the drawers unless going to our warehouse storage where they will be inventoried separately. PACKING, LOADING, AND UNLOADING: You or your representative must be present at origin and destination. MIRRORS, PICTURES, ETC: If attached to walls with screws, please remove prior to mover’s arrival. ATTICS: If the attic is not floored or has a set of pull-down stairs, please remove all items and place them in an area accessible to the movers. WASHERS/DRYERS/ICEMAKERS/WATERBEDS/GRANDFATHER CLOCKS: Our movers cannot disconnect or reconnect appliance hoses. They cannot take out the weights and pendulum of grandfather clocks as well. Waterbed mattresses must be drained and packed before mover’s arrival. If you are unable to do the above services, we CAN schedule a third party service at your convenience. Prices are available from your Sales Representative or your Move Coordinator. VALUABLES: Cash, coin, stamp collections, jewelry, or important papers should NOT be included in your shipment. Items above $100 per pound should be listed on a High Value Inventory sheet included in your Move Kit. FIREARMS: Firearms ARE allowed in accordance with the Brady Bill. Please ensure that weapons are unloaded! Ammunition is NOT allowed. PHONES: Please leave your home phone connected until the day AFTER loading in case we need to call you. NON-ALLOWABLE ITEMS: There is a list of items we can’t move in your Move Kit. Please arrange to move these items separately from our shipment. These items include oil-based paints, full or empty propane tanks, corrosive cleaners… Proper packing is one of the most important steps in safely transporting your belongings. A hard copy of this sheet is also inserted in the Move Kit your Sales Representative will give you during your free on-site survey. If you decide to do some or all of your packing, we can supply you with a free how-to-pack guide. You'll find specific step-by-step instructions on properly wrapping and packing items that require special attention. |
